Sprouting

Our garden is coming up from the ground. It's such a spectacular event to watch as sprouts push up and break through the dirt. Just today while I was outside playing around the house with Molly, 5 sprouts came up! Practically before my eyes. I grew up gardening but I've never had this kind of interest or attention to detail. I'm loving it.

Here is our first Strawberry Blossom:

And an overview of the main garden with our landlord's Tomato and Pepper cages. There will be a lot of salsa this year!

Cold Frame TODAY!

Look at all those little sprouts...

We bought tomato plants early because I wanted first choice of variety. They've been cozy in the cold frame but on Mother's day they're going in the ground. In front of the plants are also some tomatoes I started from seed...back in early March. I never expected them to really work, but they are. I just need to start them inside where it's much warmer. Tomatoes really do love the heat.

Our broccoli plants are doing surprisingly well. I don't really know why I'm that surprised. They did get a little eaten up by the slugs early on in the cold frame, but once they got in the ground they have tripled in size at least. You can even see some of the broccoli growing in the center. I call them "broccoles."

Awesome. Keep 'em coming. We'll do the same.

There is something really cathartic about the ground and life. And life coming from the ground.
